It's been record heat. The grass has dried up on my lawn. The thunder clouds have gathered, but no rain from the Western region. The last drought which was barely assuaged has returned with the familiar restrictions being ordered by the government with one hand, and bond issues to build more homes to use even more water in the other. Soon, the only weather report will be about nothing but drought and more water restrictions. For the political news, there will be only reports of raids on citizens by swat teams for watering their lawns.
People should not insist on having green lawns as if they lived in a manicured estate. If they wanna grow something, they should grow food. I should grow food. I do grow some food, but not enough to feed me for a month.
I've put a lot of the weight I lost back on since I stopped smoking. For the first time I recognized the oral craving that demanded either cigarettes or food. I've practically been cramming the food in my face to feed this oral urge. If I had enough teeth I could chew gum to alleviate my lust, but they're dearly departed, and so chewing gum with partial plates is not much of an option. When I talk to the people around me about the dental problems I"ve had over the years, it's a miracle I have as many teeth left as I do. I shouldn't have taken that unconscious vow of poverty.
It's becoming more aware to me that I'm gone lose the rest of my teeth and other handsome parts sooner than later. Soon enough, just by the looks of me, the only emotion I'll be able to conjure from the other will be pity, if even that. "There, but for the grace of God, go I." Crap like this can evoke some god-awful visions, and they sure as hell ain't of no sugar plums.
The little drizzle of rain we did get from the system passing through at least cooled the day off faster. It hasn't been cooling down below 90 degrees (32.22 C) until almost midnight, and that's the real hell of a heat wave, it doesn't cool down very much at night.
It was a little cooler today, but still hot at 90 degrees. It's supposed to cool down a little more in the next week and remain seasonably normal for a while. The heat wave we've suffered through for the last week was atypical. Something like this usually happens in late July or August during the "Dog Days".
There is no reason not to expect the weather patterns to keep changing, Here in the coastal plains of the Carolinas' the ocean has covered the land my house is on at about one hundred feet (30.48 M) above sea level. Remnants of Indian villages have been found under nearly a hundred feet below sea level. Homo sapiens lived through all of it. Homo sapiens is some wily mofos as far as species goes.
It's that peculiar facticity that applies to homo sapiens as the species of choice for docetic creatures to use in their attempt to pass themselves off as a human being that causes a thoughtful person pause. Many species of life have no docetic patron who will use them to become something else. They stay the same thing for billions of years. Well, when you look at some of them, what docetic spirit with any pride at all would take rhinoceros body and try to make a silk purse out of it. Only the ones with a mean streak. That's why there is a constant supply of species going extinct. They have to or there wouldn't be a college degree program for people who specialize in finding extinct animal bones. You want job security? Learn a lot about bones. They will never run out of extinct animals to pule about until they're extinct themselves. No blame.
I'm interested in the sort of stem cells that can become any other kind of cell at some point in it's evolution. Uncloned humans will probably get to the point past where China is with it's one-child per laws. Only the finest physical specimens will be allowed to live forever. Poor people will be offered money and virgins in heaven to grow spare parts for the chosen, but when their usefulness is finished and the spare parts they grow for the rich can't measure up, then they'll be slaughtered like horses, then ground up and fed to the pampered cloned dogs.
Sometimes I think I write stuff like this to distract myself from physical lethargy I experience more frequently these days. I was doing something aerobic like stair-climbing occasionally just to be able to say I'd at least done something, but nothing special feels better these days. Particularly during heat waves. It's not like I had to go through this alone. The heat bubble covered most of the East Coast all the way up to Boston. That's where most of the people in the United States live. I bet there's been some hot tootsies up and down InterState 95.
I've been staying away from playing the scales on my keyboard as much to see if that helped the carpal tunnel and arthritis, but I'm writing even more, so I'm defeating my own purpose. Somehow, I gotta stop using my hands for a while, but I don't know any other way that has heart for me to make time fly.
